BIA invests in vertical integration and boxed bed business

What’s happening: Bedding Industries of America has installed state-of-the-art equipment in seven of its U.S. plants to create a strategic, vertically integrated manufacturing and distribution operation in support of its brick-and-mortar retailers.

The additions include investments in foam fabricating equipment and an expansion of its existing lineup of C3 roll-pack machines. With multiple shipping points and a single billing point of contact, BIA has developed a specialty for assisting large private label e-commerce accounts. Its strategically placed factories throughout the U.S. also means delivery in just one to two days via UPS.

Why it matters: “As we have expanded our national manufacturing footprint, we are strategically investing in operations to deliver the broadest assortment of boxed bed mattresses, achieve aggressive price points and shorten delivery windows for our dealers and their customers,” says BIA CEO Stuart Carlitz. “We recently launched this program with two major customers where our team was able to produce and ship thousands of mattresses in 24 hours with a very quick turnaround. The teamwork in our network was critical in getting these large orders completed effectively and efficiently for our customers.”

BIA’s owned and operated facilities in New Jersey, Illinois and California are joined in this program by select licensees and manufacturing facilities in Massachusetts, Georgia, Texas and Seattle.
