Sleep Foundation survey looks at the effects of ‘sleep divorce’

What’s happening: Sleep Foundation recently released a survey that found that adults who have maintained a “sleep divorce” average 37 minutes of sleep more each night. A “sleep divorce” is sleeping in separate beds or bedrooms so that both partners can get the best sleep.

Why it matters: A few key findings from the report include:

  • 52% of Adults In a “Sleep Divorce” say it improved sleep and marriage
  • 25.7% of adults who sleep separately from their partner end up sharing a bed again
  • Adults who have recoupled from a sleep divorce sleep 10 minutes more now than when they slept separately
  • 30% of adults cite sleep issues as a reason they sleep apart, with 16.5% saying they disrupt their partner’s sleep
