Bedgear implements temporary surcharge on global freight

In a letter obtained by Bedding News Now, Bedgear announced to its retail partners that it wil implement a temporary Global Freight Surcharge of $0.98 per unit on Bedgear product shipments.

The surcharge will apply to orders received on or after November 4, 2026. Orders received before that date will be honored under their existing terms. The surcharge will appear as a separate line item on invoices to provide transparency.

Over the past several months, we have experienced significant increases in fuel, carrier and transportation expenses, Shana Rocheleau, EVP of strategy said in the letter. “While we have continued to manage these costs through carrier negotiations, shipment consolidation and operational efficiencies, the increases have reached a point where we need to make an adjustment.”

She explained that the company has intentionally chosen to implement a separate surcharge rather than permanently adjusting its underlying pricing structure, which she said has remained relatively stable for years.

“We believe this is the fairest and most transparent approach given the volatility of transportation costs,” she continued. “Our objective is not to generate additional profit from freight. The surcharge is intended to recover only a portion of the increased transportation expenses we are experiencing. Bedgear will continue to absorb additional costs throughout our supply chain, including inbound transportation and other operating expenses.

While understanding that market conditions change, she added that Bedgear will review the surcharge quarterly against its actual transportation costs and reduce or eliminate it as those costs improve, consistent with the approach the company took following the Covid period.

“We understand that every additional expense matters to our retail partners. We value your business and remain committed to managing costs responsibly while supporting your ability to remain competitive and profitable,” Rocheleau concluded.
