At the tail end of 2025 (and in my first article for Bedding News Now), I wrote about the 2026 colors of the year and how they would influence sleep products in the months ahead.
A quick recap: For 2026, the trend forecasting industry predicted that consumers would abandon minimalism following years of “beigeification,” instead seeking comfort through their interior design and decor choices by opting for warm hues and nostalgic patterns. So far, this has proven true.
At the recent High Point Market, I observed that manufacturers have taken notice of consumers’ interest in vintage aesthetics. I met with companies that reintroduced patterns from their own archives or created pieces that looked purposefully aged, as if they could have been inherited.
Most of it was a sharp departure from the sleek minimalism of yesteryear and an affirmation that comfort-inducing colors and patterns continue to be a core driver for consumers in 2026.
Perhaps one of the most nostalgic elements in design right now is Americana, which mass and premium retailers are increasingly leaning into via their bedding assortments. It feels fitting, particularly ahead of Memorial Day and Fourth of July, but it also reflects broader consumer tastes.
Americana goes hand-in-hand with the resurgence of Western wear in fashion over the past couple of years, which has since bled into other lifestyle categories like bedding. Recently, bedding manufacturer HiEnd Accents partnered with Stetson to launch Stetson Home, a bedding collection with weathered texture and Southwestern-style patterns.
Cowboys aside, other Americana-style motifs like red, white and blue and heritage-style quilt patterns are cropping up across sleep products.
One of Target’s newest bedding collections, under its Threshold label, introduced a patchwork reversible quilt set with red, white and blue patterns, designed to look like an heirloom. Great Bay Home debuted a similar product, its Americana patchwork quilt set, with a red, white and blue patchwork pattern the company describes as having “a touch of Americana charm.”

Pottery Barn recently launched its Americana flag reversible quilt, handcrafted from 100% cotton and reversible to a coordinating pattern.
The newest Americana-inspired designs from retailers are softer, making the products feel less seasonal and potentially giving them staying power beyond the summer holidays.
Historically, bedding is one of the easiest and most affordable entry points for consumers who are looking to adopt new trends for their home.
For bedding retailers who are looking to refresh their merchandising mix, leaning into Americana and vintage-style duvets and bedding sets could be of interest to customers. After years of minimalism, maximalism is here to stay — at least for a while.
