King Koil brings together industry leaders to build bikes for children in need

King Koil brought together 75 sleep products industry executives who gathered in Port Charlotte, Florida, recently for an industry conference to build and then present bicycles to 32 children who participate in the Boys & Girls Club of Charlotte County.

During the event, the sleep product industry leaders built custom bicycles for children ages 9 to 11 years old. King Koil also donated safety helmets and gift bags for each participant.

“Each year, we gather to discuss the key issues facing the business. During this time, we also get the opportunity to come together and give back to the local community. This session is my favorite as I get to see the smiles on the kids’ faces when they get a bike. It is probably the first bike they ever had so this is so special,” said David Binke, chief executive officer of King Koil. “It is also great that so many of our colleagues in the industry joined us to help out. We all had fun working together and doing something so important to support children in need.”

“Thank you, King Koil and the leaders of the mattress industry, for what you are doing here today. This is like Christmas for these kids and we are grateful for your support, kindness and caring for our community,” said Lynn Dorler, executive director of Boys &Girls Clubs of Charlotte County.

King Koil has long supported charitable events like this bicycle-building event. Past programs have included Disney day trips and a “Drive to Thrive” afternoon at the iconic Phoenix International Raceway, carnival game activations and Build-a-Bear workshop experiences for Boys and Girls Clubs children across the country.

“Being in the mattress business, we inherently like to build things and having so many people donate their time to build these bicycles is a testament to our team and our industry. A bicycle can play an important role in a child’s day-to-day life and we’re thankful we can support these families in a meaningful way,” added Binke.
