Bedding exhibitors spotlight new product, technology at Las Vegas Market

Bedding exhibitors promoted wellness, focused on new product introductions, and introduced innovative technologies at the recent Las Vegas Market.

Nearly every manufacturer centered their message on helping retailers carry something unique and different while also offering sizable margins.

Leggett & Platt debuted its new Dwell line in an updated showroom this market. The retail-focused line is aimed specifically at women because, as Julia Rosien, vice president of marketing, explains, they are the primary shopper of mattresses.

“We’re building a website for consumer awareness around the line and retailers can access our digital assets through a backend portal,” she explains. “It can be shipped to a store or directly to a customer free of charge.”

Dwell features a soft green that stands out in comparison to the common blue and black colors of today. The line includes an 11-inch, 12-inch and two 14-inch models, ranging from $799-$1,399, and offers 60+% margins

The company uses a Calibur edge support system instead of a foam encasement, which VP of sales Scott DeSantis says saves 40 gallons of chemicals. The system uses steel coils to achieve support.

“Our vertical capabilities make it easy to succeed,” he says.  “The Calibur edge is 26% more durable than foam encasement and will last much longer.”

Kuka Sleep has used its unique capabilities to create the new PostureRest line of wellness-focused mattresses using its patented Cloudology technology.

The lifestyle brand encourages restorative sleep through pressure relief. VP of marketing Jefre Ramos says the products are designed to support healthy alignment, relieve pressure points, and encourage deep, uninterrupted sleep.

“We’ve had a fantastic reception from retailers who are looking for something new and shiny,” he says. “And what we offer with PostureRest also has tangible benefits. It provides 50% better pressure relief compared with other similar products in the market.”

The collection’s Cloudology technology includes two parts. The CloudCoil system offers a premium pressure relief system. The CloudPod, the next-generation evolution of Cloudology, is engineered to provide comfort across multiple levels of support. Both offer strategic zoning and added relief based on the types of materials used.

Boyd Sleep came to market with its new iZone, a modern hybrid using foam and the company’s adjustable air technology. With separate zones, each side can personalized to the indisivual sleeper.

It also comes with an incline kit thatoffers health benefits for stomach and side sleepers by keeping their spine in line while inclined. The company plans to expand the line into luxury with split heads and other key features and benefits.

Bed Tech unveiled the final version of its Ultimate adjustable base, which is not a kit but a solid base with four legs that easily screw on.

“The base is packed with everything, from backward and forward tilt to underbed lighting, subwoofers, lumbar support and more,” says Justin Trumbo, head of Bed Tech Midwest. “It has the ultimate amount of features and positions and comes in between $2,499-2,999 with 55-60% margins.”

The company previewed a prototype at the July Las Vegas Market last year and, after collecting feedback, made adjustments before the market this year.

“We’ve had a great response to the Ultimate base and we’re excited to get it on retailer’s floors,” Trumbo adds.

Mlily highlighted its Essentials collection, which features hybrid and all foam models. The foam models include 6-,8-,10- and 12-inch profiles, while the hybrid has 10-inch and 12-inch profiles.

“This line helps the budget-concious consumer who wants high quality materials for better sleep,” says national sales director Derek Leishman. “We use proprietary foams on all of the mattresses in this collection.”

The company also introduced its WellFlex ICE split-head mattress, which uses Gel AeroFusion memory foam infused with ActiveTemp PCM to promote temperature regulation, deliver contouring pressure relief, and provide consistent support; and its Sierra mattress topper, a 2.5-inch, dual-layer memory foam topper with a breathable 3D mesh side panels and four corner bands.
