In an aggressive bid for growth, the International Sleep Products Association has unveiled a new membership model that opens participation across the bedding industry supply chain.
The model welcomes all businesses connected to the design, manufacturing and sale of sleep products, a group that includes producers, suppliers, retailers, sleep accessories producers and supporting services.
ISPA says the new model reflects how the bedding industry operates today.
Under the new structure, ISPA membership is organized into these categories:
- Producer: Manufacturers/assemblers/brand owners of finished sleep products.
- Supplier: Companies that produce mattress components, including machinery, foam, hard goods, innersprings, textiles, soft goods, chemicals, fibers and other services such as showroom solutions, labs and software/computer services for the sleep products industry.
- Retailer: Owners, executives and management of bedding specialty shops, department stores and furniture stores that sell finished mattresses directly to consumers and do not produce finished mattresses.
- Sleep Accessories: Manufacturers of pillows, sheets, mattress toppers and other top-of-bed products that do not produce finished mattresses.
- Supporting Services: Marketing and public relations firms, consultants and manufacturing representatives that serve the mattress and sleep products sector.
“This is an exciting moment for ISPA and for the industry,” said Alison Keane, ISPA’s president. “We’re building on more than a century of leadership with new energy, a broader vision and a structure that allows us to better serve every company contributing to the success of our industry.”
ISPA said it has sharpened its focus on business-critical issues. The association advocates at the state and federal levels, tracking nearly 50% more bills since 2023, and monitors international developments that affect members.
ISPA also delivers economic data and market insights to guide corporate decisions, and it strengthens its industry reach through flagship events like the ISPA EXPO, and its Industry Conference and Sustainability Conference. ISPA promotes consumer engagement through its Better Sleep Council.
The bedding industry’s trade association says that a comprehensive, more connected industry voice starts with expanded membership.
As vertical integration accelerates, online channels reshape demand and company structures shift, ISPA’s approach aligns the full supply chain on the issues that matter now: state packaging regulations, mattress recycling, federal standards and trade policy, and consumer engagement, including wellness-centered messaging, ISPA said.
