Corsicana expands product focus to support retailer needs

Corsicana Mattress is adapting its business strategy to help solve the needs of many retailers in the home furnishings industry.  Well known for providing bedding products at value, mid-tier and premium price points that provide healthy margins for retailers, the company is expanding its product offering in conjunction with its new and expanded strategic product focus.  

“Our expansion of adjustable and stationary bed base products in 2024 has proven to be very successful,” says Colin Blackmon, EVP of sales and marketing. “Moving into 2025, we are repositioning the company as we adapt our mattress model to include very popular nationally branded seating in stationary and motion upholstery, while leveraging our strong distribution capabilities and delivering everything on one truck.”

Corsicana’s recently added Blackmon, a seasoned bedding and furniture executive, to their executive team. He has extensive relationships with retailers throughout the industry and with multiple product channels.

“Corsicana enjoyed a very successful January Las Vegas market with new placements and new retail partners,” Blackmon says. “Our mattress assortment represents one of the best value propositions in the industry, at all price points.  Extreme values in pocketed coil product, utilizing the very best in cover cooling technology, a strong boxed bed program, and extremely well-defined step-up premium stories within the line really demonstrate our commitment to growing one of the historically strongest brands in the industry”.  

Additionally, Corsicana has entered into strategic partnerships with some of the strongest and most well-known, upholstered seating manufacturers in the industry.  A carefully curated assortment of best-selling stationary and motion products, developed in collaboration with the best global manufacturers, are now inventoried domestically within the Corsicana logistics network. 

This allows for less-than-container orders of upholstered seating to be delivered to their retail customers. Corsicana’s comprehensive product assortment includes the manufacturing and distribution of mattresses and foundations, adjustable bases and now upholstered seating. The entire selection will be delivered on the same truck, in less-than-standard industry lead times.

In connection with this new product expansion, Corsicana is also repositioning its operations networks to better serve their retail partners. This will include consolidating some manufacturing locations, adding additional manufacturing opportunities in the Eastern US, and expanding select sites to efficiently manage the growth of the bedding channel and the addition of the upholstered seating program. The goal is to create an infrastructure to provide quick order fulfillment and exceptional service with shorter lead times.  

To support these initiatives, Blue Torch Capital (the largest equity owner of Corsicana) is planning a significant new capital investment in support of this new corporate focus. Corsicana believes this investment will continue to secure its leadership position within the home furnishings industry as an important sought-after resource with both current and future retail partners.
