HomePlus sees 30% sales boost after teaming with Gold Bond on private label

Independent mattress manufacturer Gold Bond is delivering significant business success for retailers looking for private label mattress collections that drive sales and customer satisfaction.

One such retailer is Binghamton, New York-based HomePlus, which has seen a 30-percent increase in overall mattress sales, with more than 50 percent of total sales coming from its customized private label collection manufactured by Gold Bond.

“Our partnership with Gold Bond has been incredibly beneficial to our business. From the quality of the mattresses to the impeccable service, we have seen tremendous growth with both our private label and overall mattress sales,” said Ben Kehl, co-owner and chief operating officer at HomePlus. “Their approach to customization has been a key component to the transformation of our private label selection and the breadth of mattresses really pops on our retail floor.”

According to Skip Naboicheck, president of Gold Bond, “Our approach to private label is highly collaborative. We work closely with our retail partners to understand their customer, their market and where they see growth opportunities, then build a mattress program specifically around those needs. HomePlus is a great example of that partnership. Ben and his team have a strong understanding of their customer, and together we’ve developed a customized collection that differentiates them in the marketplace and is designed to drive long-term growth.”

As sales have increased for HomePlus’ private label collection, so has its selection. The retailer now offers more than 25 private-label mattress designs. This includes the popular Chenango and Twilight collections developed by Gold Bond to offer consumers a wide range of comfort options and unique components in single- or double-sided mattresses, which is another Gold Bond signature.

HomePlus also worked with Gold Bond on its first ultra-premium mattress collection. As Kehl notes, “We were looking for a higher-end mattress and they developed our Private Reserve collection, an all Talalay latex mattress that has been doing well.”

Quality and training are two areas that have also set this partnership apart, according to Gold Bond.

“We struggled with consistency in our private label mattresses in the past. With Gold Bond, we’ve had one defective mattress in four years; that’s incredible quality and service,” said Kehl. “Gold Bond also goes above and beyond in training our RSA’s. Skip and his team are very detailed in their training, which really instills confidence in our team to sell the private label mattresses on our floor.”

“It’s important to remove as many obstacles as possible to allow our retail partners to focus on what’s most important, which is selling more mattresses. Whether it’s lower minimum commitments or longer warranties, every aspect of our relationship is installed to help our retailers have the tools necessary to succeed in their business. HomePlus has been a great partner for us,” added Naboicheck.
