Oak Tree Mobility introduces Cambridge Sleep Sciences’ tech to furniture range

Oak Tree Mobility, a specialist supplier of chairs and beds, has partnered with Cambridge Sleep Sciences to bring its cutting-edge sleep technology into Oak Tree’s furniture range.

The new SoundAsleep system consists of two integrated speakers, built into Oak Tree’s tailor-made adjustable beds and rise-and-recline chairs. These speakers play gentle, non-intrusive soundwave patterns designed to retrain the brain and support natural, healthy sleep.

“We’re thrilled to introduce SoundAsleep, making us the first UK retailer to exclusively offer Cambridge Sleep Sciences’ SleepEngine technology,” says Tom Powell, Co-founder of Oak Tree Mobility. “Customers can even try it at home with our free demo service.”

This collaboration marks the first exclusive partnership between Oak Tree Mobility and Cambridge Sleep Sciences, whose patented technology has been developed and refined over more than a decade by researchers, scientists, medical professionals, and sound engineers.

How it works:

The principle behind SoundAsleep is auditory neuromodulation — the use of structured, low-frequency sounds that align with the brain’s slow-wave activity during deep sleep.

  • When exposed to these waveforms, the brain naturally synchronises with the rhythm, promoting more stable and consistent sleep cycles.
  • In an independent study of people with a history of insomnia, 92% saw improvements in their sleep, gaining an average of 155 more minutes of rest and a 55% reduction in nighttime awakenings.
  • A second study, unveiled at World Sleep Congress 2025, showed participants fell asleep 40% faster, spent 51 minutes less time awake, and reported a significant improvement in overall sleep quality.

“Your brain is meant to follow a natural pattern of four sleep stages every night, but stress, poor habits, and routine changes can disrupt this rhythm,” says sleep expert and neurophysiologist Dr. Nerina Ramlakhan. “Restoring natural sleep cycles improves mood, memory, energy, and overall wellbeing.”

Research shows that carefully formulated acoustic stimulation can strengthen this rhythm and even boost memory. When used correctly, these ‘sleep sounds’ not only help you drift off but also support cognitive health.”
