Bedding Industries of America (BIA), has hired former Resident Home executive Christopher S. Commins to lead West Coast sales as business development manager.
Commins was with Resident Home for six years where he began as their National Account Manager, pioneering the retail channel of the Nectar and DreamCloud brands into retail for the D2C powerhouse and was awarded the Circle of Excellence awards in both 2021 and 2023.

Most recently he was promoted to director of sales for the Western U.S. and Canada where he continued to work with some of the best retailers across North America and lead a team of national account and regional managers.
Prior to joining Resident Home, Commins spent four years with AVB/BrandSource buying group, beginning as a region manager and working closely with their members and vendors to deliver profit-driving solutions that impacted all aspects of running a retail business.
His background in mattresses stood out and ultimately led to his appointment as director of business development for mattresses. Previous mattress industry experience includes regional and national account roles with Sealy Mattress Company, Spring Air, Kingsdown and E.S. Kluft.
According to Jared Carlitz, chief executive officer, at BIA, Commins is tasked with further expanding BIA’s growing business on the West Coast, deepening relationships with current retailers and opening up new markets.
“We see great opportunity in the West to expand beyond our strong base in Southern California to Washington, Oregon and Idaho,” Carlitz says. “We’ve experienced tremendous growth over the last year, really by opening one door at a time. Dealers are telling us that our brands command higher margins with higher quality than competitors’ products at similar price points, and they appreciate our ability to create solutions that help them stand out in the marketplace, while addressing both their top and bottom lines. We are very excited to have a sales professional of Chris’ caliber lead the charge.”
Commins currently supervises a team of five.
“I’m thrilled to be working with a team of industry veterans as we develop new partnerships in their markets and bring a different perspective in how BIA can best support the retailer’s needs. The quality and value that is built into each BIA brand and mattress allows us to offer solutions that will resonate with their customers and deliver profitable sales across a wide range of price points,” Commins says.
