In a world where bigger is usually considered better, Gold Bond Mattress has created the Simply Pure Collection of luxury, low-profile mattresses for its multidecade retail partner Long’s Bedding & Interiors to meet the exacting needs of city dwellers who are typically living in smaller spaces.
Like Gold Bond, Long’s is a fourth-generation family business that is a New York City mattress institution. The East Side-based retailer is the largest independent mattress retailer remaining in Manhattan and is known for its celebrity and designer clientele. Terri Long, who now runs the business, noticed demand for low-profile mattresses from customers living in smaller spaces and also older consumers who still wanted a luxury mattress but didn’t want to scale the heights of today’s high-profile beds.
As a result, the exclusive three-mattress Simply Pure lineup offers a 7.5-inch, 9.5-inch and 11.5-inch euro top and is crafted using 100% natural organic Talalay latex and GOTS-certified organic fabric to promote healthier sleep.
“Being in New York City, we see a wide range of consumers on a daily basis, and we have found that between city dwellers looking for a mattress to fit their small spaces and older generations looking for a mattress that’s easy to get into, the popularity of thinner mattresses has been on the rise. We needed a manufacturer that could craft that for us, and Gold Bond was our first choice,” said Long.
According to Long, the Simply Pure collection, positioned near the front of the store, is performing well with the store’s customer base who appreciate the luxe feel, natural materials, slimmed-down sizes and the ease of getting into and out of the beds.
Also unique to the Simply Pure collection is the ability to order additional custom sizing, which appeals to international consumers in the New York metro region who may have arrived with bed frames with foreign dimensions that cannot accommodate U.S.-sized mattresses.
“The three-bed lineup that we collaborated on with Long’s Bedding has the unique ability to be customized, which is hard to find with other manufacturers,” says Bob Naboicheck, chief executive officer at Gold Bond. “Given that Long’s is located in one of the most diverse cities in the nation, it was important for us to offer a design that accommodates furniture from overseas. We’re proud to provide a solution that meets the unique needs of Long’s customers.”
“Working with Bob, Skip and their team from start to finish was a seamless experience and we’re thrilled with the strong sales performance of this collection,” Long says. “We’ve carried numerous of their collections for years, and this latex collection is another successful addition from the brand. Gold Bond is family-owned like ours, and that shared heritage, combined with their exceptional product and customer service, has been a key reason our partnership has remained strong for over 20 years and will continue to remain strong in the years to come.”
